Puzzle and grow together: Team building event of the women's network EmpowerMINT Department 6

On November 8th, 2024, an exciting team building event by the women's network took place. In the form of an outdoor escape game, the participants experienced a captivating crime story in which they had to solve puzzles together and find clues in order to unmask a suspect. To do this, they went to places steeped in history and learned a lot about historic Osnabrück.

The event promoted team spirit and offered an excellent opportunity to get to know each other better and strengthen cohesion within the network. The participants reported an entertaining experience that not only strengthened the sense of community in the network and developed the team's skills, but was also a lot of fun and created a great atmosphere.

We are pleased about the lively participation and are looking forward to future events that will further strengthen the cooperation and cohesion of women in the department.

Joint visits to the Mensa

This year several networking events took place in the cafeteria and Mensa at Westerberg. In a relaxed atmosphere, several participants gathered to eat together and exchange ideas.

What was particularly pleasing was the participation of many new faces who took the opportunity to get to know the network and network with other women in STEM fields. During the meal, the participants were also able to talk about their individual experiences, current challenges and successes during their phD. This not only encouraged the exchange of ideas, but also a sense of community among the women.

We would like to thank everyone who took part and look forward to future meetings where we can continue to promote exchange and networking among women in the field.

panel discussion: PhD- what’s next? Paths into science and industry

On 06.02.2024, we organized a panel discussion on the topic of career paths with six guests from science and business. The guests included female professors from the University of Osnabrück and Aachen as well as women working in science management and a leading IT company.

In the discussion round, we had the opportunity to talk to the female managers and scientists about their professional careers and possible career paths. We talked about possible hurdles, stays abroad, networking, compatibility with personal goals and much more. All kinds of questions were allowed and a great open and familiar atmosphere was created in which everyone felt comfortable.

It was very exciting for the audience to experience in which directions a PhD can lead and which branches can lead into science and business, and everyone also gained a deeper insight into female CVs with their specific career hurdles and opportunities.

The event was supported by the UOS Equal Opportunities Office as part of the Federal and State Women Professors Program.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and made the event such a success. We are very much looking forward to repeating such an event very soon!

Thank you for your participation and the fascinating and honest input from the participants!

Thank you for the successful kick-off workshop

On May 10, we kicked off our EmpowerMINT FB6 network with a workshop at Theater Bielefeld. Together with eight young women from our department, we explored our presence and self-perception. We even ventured into the world of improvisation! In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, we got to know each other better and discovered new aspects of ourselves. We all left with exciting insights and a few exercises to enhance our daily lives. We want to express our gratitude for your courage, ideas, motivation, and openness to engage and contribute. It was a fantastic start, and we are already looking forward to our next event with all of you!
